Literacy
·         Spellings this week can be found in everyone’s homework folder or on the class blog. Please complete activities that come with spelling list.
·         Explanation Writing – I’ve included a short work sheet on the explanation writing genre.

Maths
·         Continue to practise the multiplication, division, addition and subtraction tables at home. There are interactive game links on the class blog. This is a fun way and can be done separate to written homework.
·         Homework sheets based on fractions and a word proble sheet.

Gaeilge
·         Spellings can be found on page 19 of Litrigh É Linn. They can also be found on the class blog with pronunciation and English meaning.
·         Duolingo Assignment – everyone needs to earn 50 XP this week. This should be done regularly and not in one long sitting i.e. 10 mins a day rather than 30 minutes on Thursday. Duolingo can be accessed on all devices. The App can be downloaded from the Apple App store and android store.

Project
·         One more week to complete the Ancient Egypt project. It is due by Friday the 28th at the latest. For anyone who is using PowerPoint please e-mail me the project at belmayneetgof@gmail.com

Homework 18th – 22nd January 2016
English
·         Worksheets for this week’s spellings can be found in the homework folder.
·         I’ve included four short cloze procedures that are based on some of the topics from the history project. As well as completing the worksheet by adding the missing words, I ask all pupils to read the sheet a number of times as I’ll be asking a few questions on Friday.

Maths
·         Please find multiplication sheet in homework folder. (Sums need to be written neatly into copybook. Pages must be lined, titled and dated)
·         Please find word problem sheet in homework folder.
Gaeilge
·         Duolingo – everyone must earn a minimum of 50XP this week. It is better to do a little bit everyday than one long session a week.
·         Irish spellings can be found on page 17 of Litrigh É Linn. Meaning and pronunciation of words can be found on the blog.

Geography
·         Please complete the short fact file on Egypt the country.

History
·         Continue working on the class project. You have until the end of January to complete it.

I would like to clarify that if the project is hand written that it should have at least 5 pages (A coverpage and 1 page for every topic).

If the project is made using power point then a minimum of 9 slides is needed. (1 slide for the cover and 2 slides for the individual topics)

If you haven’t synced your Duolingo account to mine please do so by typing in the addressed below and logging in.

Homework – 11th to 15th January 2016
Maths
·         Practise all division tables. A copy of the tables is in your child’s folder. Interactive Tables games are also a good way of practising. Links can be found on my blog.
·         Work out division questions using the long division method. These questions should be copied from the page into the maths homework copy. Pages must be lined and titled and all questions should be written neatly. An example of how to complete long division questions can be found on the back of the sheet or an explanation video can be viewed on my blog.
·         Complete practical math problem questions

Gaeilge
·         There are 8 Litriú Gaeilge this week. These can be found on page 12 of Litriú É Linn. We have covered them in the past but I would like to go over them again. The list, including English translation and phonetic breakdown can be found on my blog.
·         Continue to use duolingo as a method of practising Irish. I would like everyone to complete a minimum of 4 activities a week. If possible please practise as much as possible.

English
·         New spelling system starting this week. Only 8 spellings in total but all words will be completely different i.e. no word families such as plan, man, tan etc. Activities to practise these words will also be included. Spellings will be differentiated for the needs of individual pupils.
·         There will be a short cloze procedure exercise to complete.
